The female clients at the Diersen (Louisville, KY) SAP program have begun Hatha Yoga classes, a branch which uses breathing techniques and physical poses to encourage self awareness. “Yoga encourages one to reflect on themselves and find their inner peace. It exercises not only their body but mind as well,” said Director Ronyal Horton. “With a healthy body and mind, one is on their way to living a more fulfilling life.” Studies show yoga can improve overall physical fitness, strength, flexibility and lung capacity, while reducing heart rate, blood pressure and back pain. The classes are taught by Intern Teressa Steinbach from Brown Mackie College.
