Dismas Charities Manchester Staff/Residents Help Annual Relay For Life Event

Staff and residents of the Manchester program volunteered to help with and participate in this year’s Clay County American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life. The relay is the signature fundraiser for the ACS and is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Manchester residents volunteered several hours, preparing over 300 illuminated sand bags that spelled “HOPE” (above), and lined the park with the bags to represent cancer survivors. Residents also helped food vendors, set-up and cleaned up. “Staff and residents were able to meet and talk with local community partners, Clay County Relay for Life teams and share personal stories of how cancer has effected them or their families,” said Director Renee Hobbs.
