According to an official of the Owensboro Fire Department, had it not been for the quick response of three staffers who quickly evacuated the building, extinguished a fire in an exhaust fan, and just as quickly notified authorities, the end result could have been much worse. The staff deserving kudos are Resident Monitors Christopher Epison and Cassie Watts, and Maintenance Staffer Anthony Roberts. Amid all the excitement, the staff was still able to notify Director T. C. Cox only two minutes after the fire was first discovered.
