Men’s Wearhouse Delivers Two Tons Of “Gently Used Professional Attire” To Dismas Charities

6-13-2016

The Lexington facility has benefited greatly in past years through its association with the annual Men’s Wearhouse Suit Drive. But they expected nothing like what was received recently when a truck containing over two tons of men’s clothing arrived at the facility. A total of 46 boxes were unloaded in the parking lot. Wanting to share the wealth, Director Sheryl Fisher sent half to Corporate Office for distribution to Louisville area facilities. Memphis Director James Williams, who has participated in the drive before, also expressed an interest in obtaining some of the
clothing. The program, which asks citizens to turn in “gently used professional attire as a first step to someone’s second chance”, benefits at-risk men and women transitioning into the workforce. Discount coupons are given to participants. The Dismas programs will use the items to help residents present an enhanced image in applying for employment. This years Men’s Wearhouse drive is expected to net over 300,000 clothing items. When the program began in 2011, 100,000 items were donated.
