Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving, to most of us, is a time to spend with family and friends recalling and celebrating the blessings of the year. It’s also a time to indulge in the enjoyable recalling of past events, overeating, watch seemingly unending football games and preparing to begin shopping on Black Friday. For those within Dismas’ residential re-entry centers throughout the nation, this can also be a bright, cheerful holiday – with the support of family. One of the basic tenets of Dismas Charities is family reunification. We practice it in every aspect of every program we employ. Whether it be a Halloween Party for the children of our residents or simply an occasional visit, Dismas insists that the family be involved. They are a critical support system which cannot be overlooked. And when those all-important family ties are established because of the dedication of Dismas staff, we all pause to give thanks.
