Dismas Charities Kearney Hosts Local Housing Authority; Vera Institute Of Justice

The Kearney facility was visited by representatives from the Kearney Housing Authority (KHA) and the Vera Institute of Justice. The KHA was recently selected for the Open Doors to Public Housing initiative by the institute, an organization that works with government agencies on justice system reform. The new initiative will now allow those recently incarcerated to live with family members already living in public housing, who would previously have been denied residence. Kearney Director Jack Morgan had previously provided support to the KHA when they were seeking selection for the initiative. The representatives from the KHA and the Vera Institute toured the program and discussed the difficulties in obtaining residences for those coming out of incarceration.
