The Las Cruces program held a “First Responder Appreciation Cookout” to show their gratitude for the services that the Las Cruces Police, Fire and Emergency Medical personnel provide to the center. The event was featured in the local paper, Las Cruces Sun-News. The event was coordinated in part by Social Services Coordinator Melissa Patino, who worked tirelessly in making it a success. Members of the facility’s Community Relations Board also attended and volunteered their time to help in setting up and decorating. Those CRB members who could not attend, supported it financially or by donating water, soft drinks, and food. Residents also decorated the outside of the dorms with first responders logos. “This was a special event and on behalf of LCPD we greatly appreciate your efforts and recognition,” said Deputy Police Chief Justin Dunivan. After the event, extra plates were delivered to the fire department and the medical response main offices for those who were unable to attend.
