Diersen Charities Memphis Day Reporting Center Staff Prepare Lunch For Area Homeless

Members of the Memphis area homeless community were given lunch bags by staff from the Memphis Day Reporting Center (DRC) as part of a community-wide effort to help those less fortunate. The homeless benefiting from the effort volunteer to work at cleaning around the city as part of the Work Local Memphis program. DRC staff prepared 10 lunch bags which included sandwiches, chips, fruit, and drinks at the Hospitality HUB, a counseling and resource center for the homeless and those imminently homeless. The HUB was founded in 2007 by the Downtown Churches Association (DCA) out of a desire to establish a centralized location of information and services for the homeless in Memphis and Shelby County. Other agencies taking part in the effort were Memphis Union and Calvary Rescue missions, Missionaries of Charity, Salvation Army, Living for Christ, Metro Inter-Faith Association, Veterans Administration, Alpha-Omega Veteran Services, Barron Heights, Southwest Mental Health Project to Aid in the Transition from Homelessness, Shelby County Services Agency, Memphis Housing Authority, Memphis Health Center, Mobile Homeless Clinic, Dozier, Genesis and Harbor houses, Cocaine and Alcohol Awareness Program, Friends for Life, Tennessee Department of Human Services, Case Management, and Synergy Transitional Housing. Preparing the food from left are Diersen staff Eric Powell, Kendra Parson and Tiffany Sain.
