Diersen Charities Memphis Facility Director James Williams Speaks At MLK School

Memphis Director James Williams was the guest speaker at the Martin Luther King High School Honors Program in late January. Williams was accompanied by Assistant Director Markia Bearden who donated balloon columns from her business “Busy B’s Balloons”. The event honored students who had perfect attendance, and made the honor roll or principals list. Williams spoke about his own personal journey and the importance of keeping their goals and how to reach them. He also entertained the parents and staff near the end of his speech with a rendition of “If This World Was Mine” by Luther Vandross. The Memphis Director also agreed to work with the students and faculty to mentor students with the assistance of his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, of which he is chapter President. Many of the inner-city school’s students come from neighborhoods with very limited resources, Williams said.
