The Memphis clothes closet got a welcome boost recently
thanks to the networking of Assistant Director Eric
Powell’s mother, Alice Carter. Mrs. Carter was talking
with John Jackson (right in above inset with Powell),
who once owned a clothing store in his hometown of Port
Gibson, Mississippi and wanted to donate clothes and
shoes but didn’t know to whom. Mrs. Carter suggested
the Memphis clothes closet. Assistant Director Powell
drove his personal truck and trailer to Port Gibson to
make the large pickup, which included the plastic bins
shown here.
