The crowning moment following the Third Annual Dismas Charities Corpus Christi Fishing Tournament is shown above as Director Michael Corona (third from left) presents a check for $5,517 to American Diabetes Association (ADA) Board Member John White (fourth from right). The tournament, which included 50 fisherman vying for cash prizes was held in the Gulf of Mexico. Prizes included tickets to a San Antonio Spurs game, a guided fishing trip for four, and a kayak. The first place winners included Bryce Stark (red fish), Tommy Perez (trout), and Zack Bulger (drum). In the three years the Corpus Christi facility has held the tournament, nearly $12,000 has been raised and donated to ADA, Corona said. Sponsors included Dr. and Mrs. Ricardo De Los Santos, Leeward Adventures-Captain Lee, Jesse Sturgeon, Den Freaney, Dan Judiscak, Eddie Aguilar-ETS Oil Field Services, Attorney Ron Barroso, Jonathan Ugval-House Arrest Services, Matthew Jordan-Firetrol Protection Systems, Jason Paul, Steven Schmidt, Port Royal Ocean Resort, Holiday Inn North Padre Island, Island Italian Restaurant, Scuttlebutt’s Seafood Bar & Grill, Angela Corona-Navy Army Community Credit Union, Wyman Crawley-TL Mechanics, Alicia Rogers-US Foods, and Captain Marvin Tamez, of Texas Parks & Wildlife for providing two Game Wardens to officiate the weigh-in. As you can see by these photos, the event was indeed a family affair.
