Mission Behind Bars (MBB) held their 3rd Annual Reveal Fundraiser at the Diersen center to celebrate the stories of returning citizens they have helped over the past year. Former Resident Anita Barrera told how Dismas Charities saved her life. Dr. Jennifer M. Ortiz, an Assistant Professor of Criminology at Indiana University Southeast, was the featured speak-er who told the story of her personal journey from gangs, to arrest, to heroin addiction to the 180 attendees. She previously served as Research Director for the New York State Permanent Commission on Sentencing. The Diersen Daughters of Change Choir rendered two selections. The Dismas facility co-sponsored the event.
