Dismas Charities Charleston Facility Hosts 18 From USP Big Sandy

The Charleston program recently hosted 18 officials from USP Big Sandy to exchange information about how best to prepare their inmates for reentry into society and what to expect on their arrival at the Dismas facility. With the exception of Warden Greg Kizziah and Associate Warden Chris McConnell, most of his staff had never been to a reentry center like Charleston. Director Jim Sands and his staff exchanged information about helping the inmates obtain social security cards and birth certificates, accountability, Dismas’ on-going and advanced efforts in technology, programming, home confinement and prison culture versus community culture. Cook Brian Boggess treated the dignitaries to a complete dinner. In a thank you note following the event, McConnell said the hospitality of the program was “second to none.” The day concluded with a tour.
