John Trapp, from Family Guidance (at right above), visited the Montgomery center recently to register unemployed residents for two- and four-week programs on resume writing, job search, interviews, the How-to’s for obtaining employment, and dressing for success. Following the two-week program, qualified residents are selected for a four-week program which provides hands-on job readiness experience. During this session residents are paid $100 weekly for their participation. After completion, Family Guidance pays the hiring companies three months wages for the residents. To qualify for the programs, all males residents must participate in the Fatherhood program through Family Guidance. Family Guidance also offers GED assistance, and guidance to residents entering college, vocational college or a credentialing program.
