Dismas Charities Montgomery Staff Attend COSA Training

Montgomery Administrative staff members attended free training on Heroin and Prescription Drug Abuse: A Crisis in Alabama, offered at the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA). Speakers covered the heroin epidemic in Alabama, the origin of heroin, as well as other abused narcotics. Staff were also informed about prevention efforts, evidence based curriculum’s in schools, college campuses and churches, increased use of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program and CDC recommendations. Those receiving a certificate for attending the training were, from left, Word Processor Jeanette Mahan, Counselors Santana Lumpkin and Crystal Walter, and Social Services Coordinator Felecia Blair.
