The Atlanta program hosted a Dress for Success seminar in late March, designed to prepare residents applying for employment. The seminar covered what is acceptable to wear during the interview process, the difference between business professional and business casual dress, first impressions, self-branding, interviewing skills, addressing their convictions in the interview, researching an organization before the interview, body language and eye contact. Speakers included Men’s Warehouse Manager Paul Vaughn, Sun Trust Bank Senior Vice Presidents Krystal Doll-Thomas and Scott Dereschuck, and former resident Dawn Marshal, who spoke about transitioning to the workforce following release, how she overcame obstacles and how she finally obtained success. The seminar took place one week prior to the facility’s Job Fair.
