On October 20, staff from the Savannah facility donated several basketballs in remembrance of Jerry (Smitty) Hampton, a former high school coach who died in a car accident. Hampton had a great impact on the community and particularly its younger citizens. The city of Savannah proclaimed the date as “Smitty Day”, which was also his birthday. The basketballs were given to at risk youth.
