On Feb. 22, Dismas Charities’ Savannah facility held its first-ever Health and Wellness Day. The event consisted of two components. The first was a seminar on diseases that plague the African-American community and prevention tactics, such as positive nutritional choices and consistent physical activity. The second part was a physical-fitness challenge consisting of a three-on-three basketball tournament and a group circuit and cardio workout.
Social Service Coordinator Brandon Miller, a former Savannah State University football player, led the workouts while Resident Monitor Latoya Roberts conducted the educational seminar.
