In early July, 18 Sioux City residents volunteered their time to help at Grandview Park following the 2016 Saturday in the Park music event. According to Counselor Trevor Risdal, the event committee was looking for a group that had several strong and reliable people willing to help. The committee was told by local employer, Short Staffed that Dismas residents were the hardest and fastest workers they had ever had on clean-up projects. For their efforts each resident received an official T-shirt, a free lunch and a Walmart gift card. “The residents did so well, the committee has already asked if Dismas Charities would be willing to help again next year, ” Risdal said. Saturday in the Park is one of the biggest events in the city and annually draws thousands of people to the park for a day filled with music concerts.
