Dismas Charities Tupelo Holds First Annual Health Fair

During Tupelo’s first annual Health Fair, Resident Cedryck Spain demonstrates the “patch” he is using to help him stop smoking. The anti-smoking booth at the Fall Into Fitness event included representatives from North Mississippi Medical Center, the Lions Club, Mississippi State Extension Service, S.A.F.E., and Smiles To Go. Residents participated in free screenings for vision, dental, bone density, glucose, tobacco and learned about nutrition education, and resources available to them and their families at the Family Resource Center. The attendees enjoyed food provided by local restaurants. As a show of appreciation, local businesses, restaurants and the United Methodist Church Organization donated so many door prizes that each vendor left with one. After residents attended each booth, they were given gift cards for a free meal donated by Chick-fil-A. The Lions Club offered vision examinations and glasses free to those residents in need.
