The Albuquerque facility has implemented an on-going nutrition class for residents, taught by New Mexico State University’s Department of Agriculture and the school’s Ideas for Cooking and Nutrition (ICAN) program. ICAN’s mission is to reduce nutritional health disparities in New Mexico and make a measurable positive impact on the well-being of its communities through evidence based, hands-on nutrition experiences for adults and youth. Twelve residents (above) recently graduated from ICAN and, for their efforts, received a large bag filled with nutrition and kitchen items.
