In late June, the Las Cruces program held an offsite team-building exercise for all Resident Monitors. The training touched on all aspects of the job and emphasized how to work more effectively as a team. A variety of exercises were held to demonstrate how unity in the work place is a vital part of the job, said Director Samuel Campos. In one scenario, monitors were separated into two teams and tied together at the ankles. They were then challenged with the task of navigating from one end of the room to the other with only their feet touching inside rings placed between the two boundaries. “The exercises encouraged monitors to communicate and work toward a common goal,” said Campos. Gift cards and door prizes were given throughout the days training.
