Dismas Charities El Paso Staff Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

1-6-2016

In mid-October, El Paso Director Yvette Colorado and other staff attended a celebration at FCI La Tuna to commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month. The event included a BBQ Contest, music, piñatas and other activities. Refreshments included authentic Hispanic food, Mexican candy and sweet bread. A local artist exhibited his work and talked about his struggle with family violence and alcoholism while growing up in a low income family. Prizes were awarded for the best BBQ. National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15-October 15, recognizes the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans and celebrates the group’s heritage and culture.
