Dismas Charities Charleston Holds Training Symposium

Fourteen Re-entry Case Managers and other staff from the USP Big Sandy recently visited the Charleston program for a Training Symposium on community corrections. The prison staff was there to learn how to better prepare inmates for release to a residential re-entry center like Dismas Charities. Charleston staff conducted training on accountability, employment, drug testing, the RAM technology, and home confinement requirements. Following lunch, a tour of the facility was also conducted. Big Sandy is a high-security male federal prison near Inez, Kentucky, with a population of over 1,400. Above Charleston Director Jim Sands (right) explains an accountability aspect of the center.
