To help address a growing homeless population in Clay County, the Dismas program in Manchester, with the help of other Dismas Charities Region 2 facilities, donated paper plates, napkins, spoons, forks, bowls, and over 150 pair of socks. They also helped set up and clean up following a community-wide fundraiser for Warm Souls for Worn Soles, the new homeless shelter. According to statisticians, Clay County is fourth in Kentucky out of its 120 counties in income below the poverty line. Fundraiser proceeds will go toward building bathroom and shower facilities at the shelter which also serves hot meals to the needy, many of which are not homeless.
