As part of their community service commitment, residents from the Charleston facility recently removed a massive amount of debris from a blighted piece of property near their facility. The change in the lot’s appearance was so significant – three 27-foot-long dumpsters were filled over three days – that their efforts were recorded on the front page of the Charleston Gazette-Mail newspaper. The effort began following a visit by Regional Vice President Cathy Bellew who agreed that the area needed immediate attention. “The area contained old, vermin infested house trailers in disrepair and being used for illegal activities,” said Director Jim Sands who spearheaded the effort. The residents were recognized by Jill Oliver, President of the Jefferson Business Association.
