8-31-2016

As part of its on-going Life Skills program, the Clarksburg facility recently celebrated a Greek Culture night. The St. Syridon Greek Orthodox Church donated food for the night’s dinner. With the dining room festooned in blue-and-white Greek decorations, 30 residents were treated to Pastitsio Greek Lasagna, Spanakopita phyllo dough filled with spinach and feta cheese, Tiropita phyllo dough with feta and eggs, Greek Salad, and Baklava for dessert. Father John Kostas, minister of the church, spoke with the residents about Greek history, culture, food, traditions, and other topics. The facility has held similar events celebrating Irish, Italian and African American customs and food related to their heritage, designed to expose the residents to other cultures.
