Socktober in Omaha
In October, Dismas Charities Omaha marked a milestone in community engagement with its “Socktober” campaign, collecting an impressive 2,000 pairs of socks for Siena Francis House— one of Omaha’s leading organizations supporting the homeless.
Throughout October, both staff and residents at DCO participated in the drive, motivated by the urgent needs of approximately 3,000 men, women, and children who seek shelter, meals, and services at Siena Francis House. The substantial donation provided warmth and comfort during the winter months, especially for homeless veterans and families.
Motivated by the campaign’s success, Dismas Charities Omaha plans to establish the sock drive as an annual tradition. They also aim to boost future donations by extending support to more local organizations that assist the homeless community.
